Sports Premium
What is the Sports Premium?
The government has provided Sports Premium funding for additional and sustainable improvements to PE and sport for the benefit of all pupils and to encourage the development of healthy and active lifestyles. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools, which includes Forest School sessions.
Purpose of the funding
Schools are to spend the sport funding on improving the provision of PE, sport and physical activity. Schools have the freedom to choose how they do this. Examples of the spending may include new equipment to support new sporting opportunities, hiring specialist P.E teachers/qualified sport coaches to train teachers to improve provision and introduce new sports.
At Southbourne Infants we recognise the contribution of P.E, and physical activity to the health and well-being of the children. In addition, it is considered that an innovative and varied PE and physical activities curriculum and extracurricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement and overall well-being of all children.
